Starting his career as an assistant director with the 1958 movie Talaaq, Jyoti Swaroop was an Indian writer and director. He made his debut as a director in 1960 with the Mehmood, Manorama, and David Abraham-starrer Miya Bibi Razi. Following his directorial debut, he went on to director movies such as Bin Badal Barsaat, Padosan, Parwana, Nauker, and Naya Zaher. Subsequently, he took to screenwriting and made his debut as a screenplay writer in 1974 with the Sanjay Khan, Parveen Babi, and Rakesh Roshan-starrer Trimurti and since then has written the screenplay of Satte Pe Satta, Sweekar Kiya Maine, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, and Sarphira.
