An Indian folk singer and researcher, Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee started his musical journey with the band Dohar, which he co-founded in 1999, with the intent to revive folk music in Northern and Eastern Bengal. His notable works are playback singing in the film Gumshuda, directed by Ashoke Viswanathan, Bengali film Chaturanga (2007), and Moner Manush (2008) for which he won the golden peacock award. He also provided his contribution as a music director in Selfie (2015), Bishorjon (2017), Bhuban Majhi (2018) and Rosogolla (2018).
He was also instrumental in promoting Bengali folk music in the program Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, which aired on Zee Bangla. 2013 was the year where he became the recipient of the Sangeet Samman award from the government of West Bengal as well as the Cultural Ambassador of North East Award From Bytikram Group, Guwahati. Bhattacharjee tragically passed away at the age of 47, in a road accident near Gurap village in Hooghly district on 7 March 2017. His 2018 release includes Rosogolla, directed by Pavel.
