Kar Wai Wong is a Hong Kong filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. In a career spanning over three decades, he has directed several internationally acclaimed films which have been screened at film festivals around the world. Wong is widely regarded as an auteur, and has won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his 1997 film Happy Together and a Cesar Award for the 2000 romantic-drama film In the Mood for Love. Besides these, Wong`s works have also been nominated for numerous other prestigious awards, including the BAFTA Awards, Independent Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.

Significant film credits as a writer-director include As Tears Go By (1988), Days of Being Wild (1990), Ashes of Time (1994), 2046 (2004), My Blueberry Nights (2007) and The Grandmaster (2013). For his contribution to cinema, Wong was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters: Commander, by the French Ministry of Culture in 2013. In 2014, he was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
