Known for the 2000 independent film Girlfight, Karyn Kusama is an American independent film director, who wrote, produced and directed her first film establishing herself as a versatile professional. Majority of her films have been written by her husband Phil Hay and his writing partner Matt Manfredi. The trio has collaborated on quite a few films which include Eon Flux (2005), Jennifer`s Body (2009), and The Invitation before they collaborated for Destroyer (2018).

Apart from this, she has also directed television shows like Halt and Catch Fire, Casual, and Billions. Along with this she also directed a segment of the all-female directed horror anthology film XX (2017). Her 2019 release includes Destroyer.
