Writer-director Khalid Rahman began his journey in Malayalam cinema as an assistant director, working in hits like Ustad Hotel (2012), North 24 Kaatham (2013), ABCD (2013) and Sapthamashree Thaskaraha (2014) early on in his career.

In 2016, Rahman made his independent directorial debut with the romantic comedy Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, which starred Biju Menon, Asif Ali, Asha Sarath and Rajisha Vijayan in the lead roles. The film was a critical and commercial success. In 2019, the filmmaker helmed the action comedy Unda, which featured Mammootty in the lead role. His 2022 release include Thallumaala starring Tovino Thomas in the lead.
