A popular actress, Koel Mallick is noted for working in the Bengali and Odia film industries exclusively. The daughter of a noted erstwhile Bengali film actor Ranji Mallick, Koel after pursuing her graduation degree in BSc in Psychology, started her career in the film industry. She made her debut on the silver screen with Nater Guru (2003) and immediately rose to fame as her role in the film won her maiden Best Actress Award at the 4th Tele Cine Awards in 2004.

Over the years, the actress has starred in more than 30 films across Bengali and Odia films and along the way won several awards including the BFJA Best Actress Award for her role in Hemlock Society in 2013, the Zee Bangla Gourav Samman Award for Best Actress, Star Jalsha Award for Best Actress for her role in Dui Prithibi. In the year 2017, she was seen in the movies Chaya O Chobi, a Bengali drama directed by Kaushik Ganguly and Cockpit, an adventure drama directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee. Her other releases include Ghare & Baire and Mitin Mashi (2019).
