Born in Delhi, Kulsum Sujitabh earned a Master's degree in Hindi Literature from Jamia Milia University, Delhi. Kulsum is an actor, art director for films and TV and social worker. She has been a director of Setmakers since 2006. She was part of Theatre Action Group (TAG) and performed in ''Bhagwan Ki Adalat (1987) and acted in various short films (1993-1994). Kulsum worked with Salaam Bank Trust and Teamworks for UNICEF. She had a role in a feature film the DEAD 2 India, directed by the Ford Brothers. She has directed three short films based on social issues under the banner of her own SUM Production. ''Baghdad Ka Gulam'' (2014) was co-directed by Kulsum. She was instrumental in re-staging of the same play on 20th Mayand 10th July 2015 in Delhi.
