Lana Del Rey is the stage name of Elizabeth Woolridge Grant who is an American singer, songwriter, and model. The critics admire her music for its stylized cinematic quality, its preoccupation with themes of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia, and its references to pop culture, particularly 1950s and 1960s Americana. She was raised in nothern New York State and started her music career when she moved to New York city in 2005. It wasn't until 2011 that she received widespread recognition because of her single Video Games which went viral. Her debut album Born to Die. Her major-label debut Born to Die gave her further recognition when it peaked at number two on the United States charts and was the fifth best-selling album of 2012. She has released five albums after that.
