An Indian cinematographer mainly associated with Bollywood, Laxman Utekar started his career with the 2007 Hindi drama Khanna & Iyer, which featured newcomers Aditi Sharma and Sarwar Ahuja. Following his went on to be associated with several hit Bollywood movies such as Blue, English Vinglish, Boss, Tevar, Dear Zindagi, and Hindi Medium. Meanwhile, he also made his directorial debut in 2014 with the Marathi movie Tapaal, which first screened at 18th Busan International Film Festival 2013, South Korea, and opened to positive reviews and acclaim upon its release in India.
His next directorial venture was yet another Marathi movie titled Lalbaugchi Rani, which chronicles the life of a mentally unstable girl who gets lost at Lalbaug during a Ganpati darshan and how she meets different people, changing their perspective towards the life. Like his debut venture, even this one was met with positive reviews. Parallelly, Laxman continued to be associated with movies as a cinematographer and was a part of the 2017 drama 102 Not Out, which features Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. In 2019, he directed Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer romantic comedy Luka Chuppi.
