Lee Hall is a British screenwriter and playwright. He started out as a playwright, penning popular plays like I Luv You Jimmy Spud (1995) and Spoonface Steinberg (1997) prior to debuting as a screenwriter with the 2000 dance drama film Billy Elliot. For his work in the film , Hall was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenwriter that year. Since then, he has written the screenwriter for films like Toast (2010) and War Horse (2011). Other significant film credits as a screenwriter include Gabriel and Me (2001) and the 2017 biographical comedy-drama film Victoria and Abdul. His 2020 release includes CATS, directed by Tom Hooper.
