Lew Ayres was an American film actor. He was best known for his work in films like All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), The Doorway to Hell (1930) and Hearts in Bondage (1936). For the movie Johnny Belinda (1948), he received his only Academy Award nomination. Lew Ayres passed away in December 1996.
