Best remembered for portraying the role of Simran Bhargav in the 2001 suspense thriller Kasoor, Lisa Ray is a Canadian actress, social activist, philanthropist and TV host. After making her onscreen debut with Hanste Khelte (1994), Lisa starred in the Tamil action-drama film Nethaji (1996) opposite R. Sarathkumar, which marked her maiden appearance in a lead role. After her first few films failed to get her attention or recognition, the actress rose to fame with her role in Kasoor (2001) and later won several laurels for her brilliant performance in the Academy award-nominated film Water (2005).
