One of the most versatile artists, Luc Besson is a French director, screenwriter and producer who is known for his distinctive filmmaking style. A Cesar Award nominee for the Best Picture and Best Picture for his film Leon: The Professional and The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, Besson owns production companies named Les Films du Loup and Les Films du Dauphin. The writer-director who started his career in 1981 with the French film L`Avant Demier over the years, in his illustrious career has written and directed more than 50 films. Few of his most notable films include Wasabi (2001), Transporter 2 (2005), Taken (2008), and Nine Lives (2016). His 2017 release includes Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, an English-language French science fiction action film starring Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, and Clive Owen. His 2018 release includes Renegades. His 2019 release includes Anna.

  • In June 2002, Luc Besson was placed under investigation by a Paris prosecutor on the charges of involuntary manslaughter of a cameraman who was hit by a car during the shooting of a chase scene in Taxi 2 (2002), which was produced by him.
