Luke Evans is a Welsh stage and film actor and singer, popular for portraying the character of Apollo in the movie Clash of the Titans (2010). Evans has primarily starred in action movies such as The Raven (2012) and The Three Musketeers (2011).

Early Life
Evans was born in Pontypool to David and Yvonne and was raised in Rhymney Valley, a small town in Wales, United Kingdom. As a child, he had a keen interest in Biology, however, he left the school at the age of 16 and later moved to Cardiff to train under Louise Ryan, an established singing coach. Evans also won a scholarship to the London Studio Centre in 1997 and graduated in 2000.

Personal Life
In 2002, Evans was interviewed by writer and director Paris Barclay for an issue in the gay news magazine `The Advocate`. The actor during the interview revealed that he`s gay.

Theater Career
Luke Evans began his acting career with theatre. After graduating from the London Studio Centre in 2000, for the next eight years, Evans appeared in several of London`s West End productions such as La Gava, Taboo, Rent, Miss Saigon, and Avenue Q. Although he was a regular part of the theatre industry, it was only in 2008 that he landed one of his most significant roles in the play Small Change. Evans portrayed the character of Vincent in the play directed by Peter Gill and his performance earned him wide recognition in the industry.

Movie Career
Following his success with Small Change, Evans was approached by casting directors and US agencies and in 2009 he was called for his first audition for a film. At the age of 30, Evans bagged his maiden feature film role in the movie Clash of the Titans (2010), where he essayed the character of the Greek god Apollo. In 2010, he also starred in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll directed by Matt Whitecross and in Robinhood directed by Ridley Scott.

The following year, Evans appeared in several movies but none of them received a good response at the box office. He played the lead character in The Three Musketeers (2010) and was also cast as the King of Gods, Zeus in the 2011 movie Immortals, which was a commercial hit. After starring in the psychological thriller The Raven (2011), Evans was cast as Girion, Lord of Dale, in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a prequel to one of the most successful movie series of all time, Lord of the Rings. He also reprised his role in The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) - sequels to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The actor has also been a part of the Fast and Furious film series, appearing in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Fast and Furious 7 (2015) as Owen Shaw.

In 2015, Evans was seen in the British sci-fi dystopian drama, High-Rise, directed by Ben Wheatley. For his portrayal of the role of Richard Wilder, he was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category at the 2015 British Independent Film Awards. His 2016 release include the psychological thriller, The Girl on the Train, directed by Tate Taylor. His 2019 releases include Anna and Midway.
