Primarily seen working in the Kannada film industry, M. D. Kaushik is an actor, director, writer, producer, and lyricist. Making his debut as a writer and director, Kaushik was associated with the 1987 Neernalli Ramakrishna and Tara Venu-starrer Mukhavada. In 1993, he made his acting debut and since then has been seen essaying supporting roles. Some of the movies that he acted in are Rajakeeya, April Fool, and Janani Janmabhoomi to name a few. In 1998, he debuted as a producer with his next directorial venture Rambhe Nee Vayyarada Gombe, with which he also made his debut as a lead actor. Post this, he took a long break from direction and was mainly seen acting. Returning to direction, Kaushik roped in actors Jaisri Raj, Narayana Swamy, and Yogesh for his 2017 romance Sanjeyalli Aralida Hoovu, with which he was also associated as a lyricist.
