In 2008, while Mahesh was on a volunteering project, he was deeply moved by the plight of children infected with HIV. This was the first time, he had observed the life conditions of these children, most of which, were orphans, without shelter and a family. Mahesh began adopting HIV+ children, with a vision to open a hostel for them. However, due to the current social stigma surrounding HIV, he was unable to find good rentals, hence, he persuaded his family to help provide accommodation to these children in their own homes. Today, as Mahesh shares with us his cathartic journey, the Mahesh Foundation has 40 HIV+ children in their homes, 2,600 children benefit through their educational and nutritional support, and over 36,000 HIV+ individuals have been positively impacted through various programs of the foundation. The Foundation prides itself in having 78+ full-time employees working hard to actualise their common vision.
