Makarand Mane is an award-winning writer and director who made his debut in 2015 with the Marathi drama Ringan, which highlighted the issues faced by farmers, the vicious cycle of drought and debt that they often find themselves in. The movie, due to lack of distributors, suffered a delay in its release and released two years later in 2017. However, that did not stop the movie from garnering any acclaim and it went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi at the 63rd National Film Awards. His 2018 release includes Youngraad. His 2019 release includes KaaGaR.
