Manoj Kumar is the nephew of sandalwood sultan Darshan Thoogudeepa. He worked as a supporting artist in several Darshan films, appearing in small roles in Ambareesha and Chakravarthy (2017). In 2019 he bagged the lead role in the Raghu Shastry directorial Takkar, an action thriller revolving around cybercrime.
