Mare Winningham is an American actress, singer and songwriter who started her career as a singer and got her major break with The Gong Show. She made her acting debut in 1976 movie, Young Pioneers and has acted in more than 90 films and TV series. Her other notable fiilm credits include One Trick Pony, Threshold and George Wallace. In 1996 she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for her role in Georgia.
