Martin Sheen, born Ramn Antonio Gerardo Estvez, is an American actor. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, and started his career by appearing in theatre productions. Martin appeared in guest roles in many television series such as Flipper, The F.B.I., Mission: Impossible and Hawaii Five-O. He also appeared in Catch-22 (1970), followed by television films such as That Certain Summer (1972), The Execution of Private Slovik (1974) and The California Kid (1974). Next, he appeared in the films Sweet Hostage (1975) and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976), before gaining widespread recognition for his performance in the film Apocalypse Now (1979).
Following his success, he appeared in films such as The Final Countdown (1980), Gandhi (1982), Firestarter (1984), Wall Street (1987), Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993), Gettysburg (1993) and The American President (1995). His most notable appearance in television series was in The West Wing (1999-2006). Subsequently, he starred in Catch Me if You Can (2002), The Departed (2006) and the animated short film Flatland: The Movie (2007). His other notable films include Stella Days (2011),
