Mathangi Jagdish also known as Ma.Ja is a playback singer, performer, songwriter and coke studio artist. She has over 475 film songs to her credit including the superhit song X Machi from the film Ghajini.
Mathangi was born in Kolkata and brought up in Delhi. She completed her schooling in Delhi, graduation from Bengaluru and got her masters degree from Chennai. Her musical journey started at a tender age of 6 years with Carnatic music lessons. Owing to the influence of people around, her parents and the different parts of the country she lived in her musical interest grew into western pop, fusion, film music, Indian classical and pop music as well. She turned her love for music into her profession in the year 2001 when she sang her first song for the movie Choklet.
She can sing in seven languages including four south Indian languages.
