Mathura Kalauny is a theatre practitioner and has been contributing to Theatre as Playwright, Director, Producer and Actor. He founded Kalayan Theatre way back in 1988, since then he has authored 21 full length plays and 12 short plays. He has produced and directed 35 plays under Kalayan banner. His recent plays Nishkasit, Mera Dushman Manto and Ek Shaam Premchand Ke Naam are being discussed and talked about in Hindi literary circles. His Kayapalat is a very popular comedy and is being staged by different groups in many parts of the country.

He has more than 150 published short stories in various reputed magazines to his credit. He has received accolades and has been felicitated for his contribution to literature and theatre in many national and international fora.
