Screenwriter and actor Matt Gerald is famous for essaying the reformed supervillain Melvin Potter aka Gladiator in the Netflix series Daredevil. Since his feature film debut in the 1998 comedy-drama Starstruck, Gerald has appeared in around thirty movies, and is perhaps best known for portraying Corporal Lyle Wainfleet in the blockbuster sci-fi thriller Avatar (2009) - a role he is set to reprise in the upcoming sequels.

Other significant acting credits include the black comedy Choke (2008), the sci-fi action film G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), the disaster film San Andreas (2015), the crime drama mystery series Dexter and the sci-fi monster film Rampage (2018).
