About
One of the top six finalists in the second season of the Indian singing reality show Indian Idol, Meenal Jain developed an interest in acting at the age of 11. Her elder sister, who is a trained classical dancer, was practicing the song “Piya Tohse Naina Laga Re” when Meenal overheard the song and started singing it. Later, Indian music composer Ravindra Jain, who was present at her sister’s dance show, called her on stage and appreciated her as well.
Inspired by the kind words of Ravindra Jain, the then 11-year-old Meenal expressed her interest in singing and then left for Mumbai to train at Suresh Wadekar’s acting institute. However, after only three months of rigorous training, Meenal felt homesick and went back to her hometown, Indore. Years later she came back to Mumbai for studying and then learned music from different people. In 2006, Meenal participated in the second season of Indian Idol and reached the final six before being eliminated.
Meenal has sung songs from the movies No One Killed Jessica (2010), Raanjhanaa (2013), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). In 2017, she sang for the Marathi movie Kay Re Rascalaa directed by Giridharan Swamy.
