Meg Ryan is an American actress, filmmaker and producer. She made her acting debut with the 1981 drama film Rich and Famous, and subsequently rose to prominence courtesy of her role in the soap opera As the World Turns. Ryan has since appeared in over 30 films in the course of a career spanning over three decades and has been nominated thrice for the Golden Globes. Following supporting roles in films like
Top Gun (1986) and Promised Land (1987), Ryan landed her breakthrough role in the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally (1989), which became a critical and commercial success and earned the actress her maiden Golden Globes nomination.
