Hailing from a family of artists, Meghashree Bhagavathar is the third generation of Kannada actors of the Bhagavathar family. Her grandfather C Honnappa Bhagavathar was a director, producer, actor, lyricist, and composer, while her father also worked in theatre, films, and TV. However, Meghashree had no interest in acting and was surprised when she got an offer for a TV serial after she finished her class X. The following year after her acting debut on TV, she made her feature debut with the movie Hubballi (2006). The actress who was regular in school plays however entered theatre after she made her movie debut.

In 2016, she appeared in the movie Last Bus directed by SD Arvinda. Her 2017 release includes the movie March 22 directed by Kodlu Ramakrishna. Her 2019 release includes Dasharatha.
