Michael Cuesta is an American director, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for directing critically acclaimed films like L.I.E. (2001) and Kill the Messenger (2014), the former of which he also co-wrote. Cuesta has also directed episodes of television shows like Dexter and Homeland, the latter of which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Best Director. Besides these, the writer-director has also ventured into production, serving as an executive producer on shows like Elementary and Homeland and the films L.I.E. (2001) and 12 and Holding (2006). Other significant directorial credits include Tell-Tale (2009), Roadie (2011) and the 2017 action thriller American Assassin.
