American television and film actor Michael Harney is perhaps best familiar to the tv audience for his recurring role as Detective Mike Roberts in the police procedural NYPD Blue (1993-'05), and Corrections Officer Sam Healy in the acclaimed comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black (2013-).

In a career spanning well over two decades, the actor has appeared in over 70 tv shows and a dozen feature films, among which are the biographical drama Erin Brockovich (2000) and the heist movie Ocean's Thirteen (2007). Other notable acting credits include the western series Deadwood (2004-'06), the black comedy Weeds (2005-'12) and the anthology crime drama True Detective (2014-). In 2018, Harney appeared in a supporting role in the musical romantic drama A Star is Born, which featured Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in central roles.
