The co-founder of Revolution Films, British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom started his career on small screen. He was the director for several series like Dramarama (1989), Forget About Me (1990), Time Riders (1991), The Mad Woman in the Attic (1993) and Family (1994). His television project is the 1995 documentary series Cinema Europe: The Other Hollywood, which explored the Scandinavian silent cinema. It was his last project on a small screen before he shifted his focus on films.
The filmmaker made his silver screen debut with 1995 film Butterfly Kiss, which was appreciated for intensity and newness. Some of his notable works in films are Welcome to Sarajevo (1997), Wonderland (1999) and 24 Hour Party People (2002). Known for exploring human psyche and tendency, he has proved his directorial prowess in films like A Mighty Heart (2007), The Killer Inside Me (2010), The Look of Love (2013) and The Face of an Angel (2014). His other projects include The Wedding Guest (2018).
