Michael A. ` Mike ` Rich is an American screenwriter who is popularly known for scripting sports films. Rich initially worked as a newsman and DJ at the radio stations KEJO and KFLY in Oregon. Later, after graduating from the Oregon University, he worked as a news reporter for KINK, a radio station in Portland. It was in 1988 that Rich was awarded a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science which led to his first film as a screenwriter - Finding Forrester (2000). He has since then written the films The Rookie (2002), The Nativity Story (2006), The Secretariat (2010), and Cars 3 (2017).
