Takamasa Ishihara, commonly known by his stage name Miyavi, is a Japanese musician and actor. In 1999, at the beginning of his career, he was part of a band named Due le Quartz. After the band broke up in 2002, his solo career took off. He later joined a rock group known as S.K.I.N. He is particularly known for his finger slapping style of playing the guitar and has had more than six world tours. He has even produced the music for commercials of brands like Uniqlo and Toshiba. He made his debut in Hollywood in 2014 through the film Unbroken. Since then he has made an appearance in films such as Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Bleach (2018). His 2019 works include a role in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
