A multiple award-winning director, including several international acclaims, Mostofa Sarwar Farook is touted to be the pioneer of progressive filmmakers` movement in Bangladesh. A renowned film director, Farooki gained wide recognition and popularity for his film Television in 2012. The film, which was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, also won The Grand Jury Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Noted for making films with unique subjects and addressing the prevalent social issues like the Muslim concepts of guilt and redemption and issues relating to the common middle-class people, Farooki made his directorial debut with Bachelor (2003), His other notable body of work includes Made in Bangladesh (2007), Ant Story (2013), and Doob: No Bed of Roses, an Indian-Bangladeshi co-production drama film starring Abdul Aziz, Irrfan Khan, Ashok Dhanuka and Himanshu Dhanuka.
