Writer and director, Bharatan is known for his work in the Tamil film industry, having made his debut in 2001 as a dialogue writer with Dharani's Dhill. After this, he went on to write the dialogues of movies such as Dhool, Ghilli, and Madhurey.

He then made his directorial debut in 2007 with the Vijay and Shriya Saran-starrer thriller Azhagiya Tamil Magan. Despite the renowned star cast and the technical crew, the movie was declared an average grosser at the box office. While his other credits as a writer include Osthe and Veeram, he has directed Athithi and Bairavaa.
