About
Cousin of the veteran actor and filmmaker Tinnu Anand, Mukul Anand was an Indian film director and producer who left for the heavenly abode on 7th September 1997. Inspired by the Hollywood film Cape Fear, he made his first film Kanoon Kya Karega (1984). After that, he made his second film Aitbaar (1985) which was heavily inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock's classic Dial M for Murder. Sadly, both films were duds. As a director, he gained recognition with Sultanat (1986). The film had many firsts to its credit like bringing the real-life father and son Dharmendra and Sunny Deol and introducing actress Juhi Chawla. Though his work was appreciated, the film was a commercial failure.

His first commercial success came in 1987 with Insaaf. The film grabbed a lot of attention as it was the comeback film of yesteryear actor Vinod Khanna. Inspired by Al Pacino's Scarface, he made Agneepath (1990) with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, which placed him among the top directors of the industry. Amitabh won the National Award for Best Actor for the same. The duo again united for the family drama Hum (1991) which was a blockbuster. His other notable works are Khoon Ka Karz (1991) and Khuda Gawah (1992).
