Munin Barua is a prominent Indian film director, who has earned a prominent place for himself in the Assamese film industry. After writing scripts and juggling several careers, Munin made his directorial debut in 1987 with Pratima. Over the years he has worked on movies like Pita Putro (1987), Pahadi Kanya (1991), Prabhati Pokhir Gaan (1992), Nayak (2001), Kanyadaan (2002), Rong (2004), Dinabandhoo (2004) and Raamdhenu (2011). In the year 2000, when Assamese cinema was going through a rough patch, it was Munin`s blockbuster hit, Hiya Diya Niya that helped resuscitate the industry. His movie, Dinabandhoo won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Assamese in 2004. In 2017 Munin returned to the director`s seat to make the romantic-comedy, Priyaar Priyo. The cast includes Zubeen Garg, Manjula Baruah, Biki Rajkhowa, Pranjal Saikia, Saurabh Hazarika, Gunjan Bhardwaj and Aradhana Buragohain in prominent roles.
