After completing her bachelor`s degree, Neeta Pillai went to the US to pursue her post graduation program in petroleum engineering at the Louisiana State University. It was during her time in the university that she got interested in modeling and participated in the Miss Bollywood beauty pageant in Houston where she won the second runner-up title.

Her brief stint as a model got the attention of the Malayalam filmmaker, Abrid Shine who introduced her to Malayalam cinema and the model-turned-actress made her debut on the silver screen with Poomaram. Her role as the charming and energetic Irene, the chairperson of her college student`s union, was much appreciated by the audience and the critics. Her 2020 release includes The Kung Fu Master.
