Starting his career with the 1992 short film Nogen, Niels Arden Oplev is a Danish writer and filmmaker. Four years after Noger, he made his feature film debut, directing and writing the script of the 1996 Danish movie Portland, which was screened at the 46th Berlin Film Festival. Oplev then turned to television, directing episodes of shows such as Taxa, Unit 1, and The Eagle, while he parallelly worked on movies like Fukssvansen, We Shall Overcome, and Worlds Apart.

However, his breakthrough came with the 2009 adaptation of Stieg Larsson`s novel titled The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which went on to receive widespread critical acclaim globally, breaking box office records in Europe, grossing over 100 million USD. In 2011, he turned producer, producing single or more episodes in series such as Unforgettable, Under the Dome, Game of Silence, and Midnight, Texas. Oplev also has movies such as Dead Man Down, Speed Walking, and Flatliners to his credit.
