About
Born and raised in a Punjabi family in Delhi. Nikhil Dewan had no early ties to the world of art or culture, yet he had a natural inclination towards the performing arts. At just 13 years old, driven purely by instinct and passion, Nikhil found himself at Delhi`s theatre hub: Mandi House. That`s where his journey began, starting with single-line roles.
Over time, he went on to perform in more than 30 plays. Like many dreamers, his path eventually led him to Mumbai - the City of Dreams. But dreams don`t come easy. His first day in Mumbai was far from glamorous. Homeless, he wandered the streets till 11 pm before checking into a shady guesthouse. Eventually, he found refuge in PMGP Colony - a well-known haven for struggling actors.
Bit by bit, he found his footing. After doing a few episodic TV roles, his breakthrough came in 2002 with the Sony TV show Lajja. This opened the doors to more opportunities - he went on to appear in shows like Raahein on Zee TV, Kise Apna Kahein on Sahara TV, Airlines, Gulmohar Grand, Savdhaan India on Star Plus, and the iconic CID on Sony TV.
Just when things were settling for him, he had to unexpectedly return to Delhi to take care of his ailing parents. Hence, his acting career came to a temporary halt. But, again, fate wasn`t done with him yet. Just when it seemed like his journey in the arts was coming to an end, Rajiv Rai, the celebrated filmmaker, approached him with a new project: Zora.
