A well-known Indian producer, director and screenwriter Nikkhil Advani started his career as an Assistant director with Sudhir Mishra`s Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin in 1996. He subsequently started working under Dharma Productions and assisted Karan Johar in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001). Advani went on to direct his first film under Dharma Productions in 2003, which was the Shahrukh Khan-starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho, which established him as a brilliant director in the industry and also won several Filmfare awards. His second venture as a director was Salaam-E-Ishq: A Tribute To Love (2007), after which he directed Chandni Chowk to China (2009). Unfortunately, both these films did not do well at the box office.
The year 2011, saw the inception of Emmay Productions which Advani started with Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani, after the release of Patiala House. His first venture under Emmay productions was D-Day (2013). Since then, he has been a part of films like Hero (2014), Katti Batti (2015), Airlift (2016) and Lucknow Central (2017), Bazaar (2018), Batla House (2019), Marjaavaan (2019) and Indoo Ki Jawani (2020).
