After making his directorial debut in 2010 with the Tamil drama Kadaikkan, N. T. Nantha went on to be associated with the 2014 action romance Yaavum Vasappadum as a cinematographer. Seven years after his directorial debut, Nantha roped in Anu Hasan and Nassar in the action drama Valladesam, which he not only directed but also wrote the screenplay and dialogues of, in 2017.
