P Lankesh (8 March 1935 25 January 2000) was an Indian poet, fiction writer, playwright, translator, screenplay writer, and journalist, known for his works in Kannada. He was an award-winning film director and won prestigious awards like the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award for his writing. Lankesh was also honored with the National Award for Best Direction for his film Pallavi.
