Padmini was an Indian actress and dancer whose celebrated career spanned over six decades. She debuted with the movie Kalpana in the year 1948, and went on to appear in over 250 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi languages.

Some of her popular movies include Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1961), Vietnam Veedu (1970), Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu (1984), Vasthuhara (1991). In the year 1990, Padmini was honored with Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the world of cinema. The legendary actress passed away at the age of seventy-four in 2006.
