Formerly a government officer, Paran Bandopadhyay is an Indian film and theatre actor, who made his acting debut at the age of 60 in Shadhon Babur Shondeho, a short film by directed by Sandip Ray, the son of notable filmmaker and author Satyajit Ray. The actor has collaborated with the director Sandip Ray on several projects.
Passionate about acting and theatre, Bandopadhyay became a member of Indian People's Theatre Association and later, he later founded his own theatre group Shrutee Rangam, marking his directorial debut in 1999. Tumi Kar, Bishmul, Satya Fire Eso, Mithyebadi, Jedin Sedin, Tobe Kamon Hoto are some of the major productions by his theatre group.
In addition, the actor also has over thirty five films to his credits, including Bombaiyer Bombete (2003), Tintorettor Jishu (2008), Gosainbaganer Bhoot (2011), Royal Bengal Rahashya (2011), Jekhane Bhooter Bhoy (2012), Badshahi Angti (2014), Cinemawala (2016) and Double Feluda (2016). His other projects include Alinagarer Golokdhadha (2018) and Seemathurai (2018).
