Philip Glass is an American composer and former protagonist of the Minimalist movement. He started his career as an assistant to the Indian music composer Ravi Shankar and Alla Rakha and later made his transition as an independent composer and contributed in nearly 50 movies. His musical credits include Einstein on the Beach, Akhnaten, and The Voyage and his tracks echoes the new musical style called minimalism.
