Piyush Mishra is a renowned film and theatre actor, singer, scriptwriter, lyricist, and music director. After completing his graduation from the National School of Drama, Delhi in 1986, he started out on stage and acted in many celebrated plays, including Gagan Damama Bajiyo, Court Martial and Operation Three Star, an Indian adaptation of Dario Fo`s play Accidental Death of an Anarchist. Over the next decade, he established himself as a theatre director and writer and collaborated with Asmita Theatre Group, where he performed his one-man show An Evening with Piyush Mishra.
In 2002, he shifted to Mumbai and started working as a film lyricist and singer, among his notable works are "Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh" in
Black Friday, "Aarambh Hai Prachand" in
Gulaal, "Ik Bagal" in
Gangs of Wasseypur, and "Husna" in MTV Coke Studio. Meanwhile, Mishra continued to garner accolades as actor, screenwriter and received acclaim for his acting in films like
Maqbool (2003) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He is also seen in supporting roles in films such as
Revovler Rani (2014),
Tamasha (2015), and
Pink (2016). Films
Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016) and its sequel
Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (2018) are among his other projects. He then featured in web series like Illegal (2020), JL50 (2020), Matsya Kaand (2021) and Salt City (2022).
