Having worked as an actor, producer, and director, Prabir Roy is best known for introducing color T.V coverage in India in the year 1982 during the football tournament. Later in 1984, he marked his debut as a lead actor in Nitish Mukherjee`s Nayan Shyama, which was screened at Mumbai International Film Festival. He subsequently worked in films like Aaj Kaal Parshur Galpa (1981), Natun Surya (1975), and Ajker Nayak (1972) among others. Prabir Roy produced Ravishankar - A Legend of Glory (1985), a Doordarshan program based on Pt. Ravishankar which also made the Sitar maestro`s first T.V appearance. He later sponsored T.V shows like Sabdo Jabdo(1990) and Ananda Bahar (1995). In 2013, he directed the Bengali film
Kaal Madhumas, which was an intense love story. His 2019 direction includes
Jete Nahi Dibo, which is based on legendary Bengali actor Uttam Kumar.
