Mr. Prasad Namjoshi, Ph.D., is a celebrated writer, director, and producer who has contributed immensely to the Indian television and film industry for over twenty years. With a strong foundation in storytelling and visual communication, he has consistently explored diverse themes across formats, earning both critical and popular acclaim.
Film Career
Prasad`s debut feature film Rangaa Patangaa marked a powerful beginning to his directorial journey. The film earned him the prestigious `Sant Tukaram` Best International Marathi Film Award and the Best Director award at the Pune International Film Festival in 2016. It also won Best Rural Film and Best Director at the 53rd Maharashtra State Awards. His exceptional direction and writing received further recognition at the Sanskruti Kala Darpan Awards and Chitrapadarpan Awards. The film was officially selected for the 16th River to River Florence Indian Film Festival and was screened at major festivals in Goa, Mumbai, and Aurangabad. His second film, Video Parlour, was officially selected at international film festivals in Pune, Orange City, Bengaluru, and Goa, and was featured in the competition section of the South Asian International Film Festival in Singapore. His third feature, Institute of Pavtology, marks his debut as a producer, further expanding his creative footprint.
Writing Contributions
As a screenwriter, Prasad has penned four feature films. Kapus Kondyachi Goshta won the Best Story Award at the Mumbai Women International Film Festival. His film Photo-Prem received a Filmfare nomination for Best Dialogues and was officially selected at IFFI, Goa. He also wrote the screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics for Sumi, which won the National Award for Best Children`s Film at the 68th National Film Awards. Another significant film written by him is Highway Touch Gunthamantri, showcasing his ability to traverse genres and audiences.

Prasad has created over 250 educational films, corporate films, documentaries, television programs, and short films. Television Work

Beyond screenwriting, Prasad is a published author. His book Short Cut on short filmmaking won a Maharashtra State Government Literary Award. He translated Piyush Pandey`s book Pandeymonium into Marathi, titled Pandepuran. His other published works include Point of View and a short story collection Man Chahe Geet. He has also ventured into audiobooks, with acclaimed titles like Ya Sam Ha - a biography of veteran writer P. L. Deshpande - and Making of Classics Seasons I and II, all available on Storytel.
Educational and Digital Initiatives
Academically, Prasad holds a PhD in Mass Media and has completed post-graduation in Communication Studies along with a PG Diploma in Journalism from the University of Pune.
