Having started his career as an assistant director, Prashant Raj is an Indian film director and screenwriter who is primarily associated with the Kannada film industry. Before making his directorial debut in 2009, Prashant assisted on movies such as Raaz, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Deewane Huye Paagal, and Kisna: The Warrior Poet.
Making his debut, Prashant directed and wrote the screenplay and story of the blockbuster hit Love Guru, which garnered immense praise and also won him the Filmfare Award for Best Director among many other accolades. After a successful debut, he directed the 2010 comedy Gaana Bajaana, which screened at theatres for 50 days and was a commercial success.
He next directed the Kannada remake of the Tamil horror Pizza, titled Whistle, starring Chiranjeevi Sarja and Parnitha Subhash in lead roles. The movie opened to very positive reviews, with many critics commending Prashant`s work in the movie. In 2018, he directed the Ganesh and Amulya-starrer romantic comedy-drama Orange. He then directed Dalapathi (2018) and Kick (2023).
