Priyadarshan is a National Award-winning Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. He has directed over 80 films, predominantly in Malayalam and Hindi. Priyadarshan made his debut as a screenplay writer with the Malayalam film Kuyiline Thedi (1983) and later made his directorial debut with the commercially successful Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984). Riding high on the success, he then went on to direct blockbuster films like Boeing Boeing (1985), Thalavattam (1986), Chitram (1988), Aryan (1988) and Kilukkam (1991). Priyadarshan made his Bollywood directorial debut with Gardish (1993), following which he directed films like Virasat (1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Hungama (2003), the Malayalam blockbuster Vettam (2004),
Kyon Ki (2005) and
Bhagam Bhag (2006). His feature film Kanchivaram (2008) also won him a National Award. Some of his recent releases include
De Dana Dan (2009),
Khatta Meetha (2010), Aakrosh (2010) and Rangrezz (2013). His 2018 releases include Nimir, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Namitha Pramod in prominent roles.
