Punit Balan is a multi-talented individual who is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, social worker, and sports enthusiast. He is the trustee and festival head of the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati trust in Pune and the owner of various sports teams, including Pune Jaguars (tennis), Mumbai Khiladis (kho kho), Maharashtra Iron Man (handball), and Premier Badminton and Table Tennis. Balan has provided financial support to talented and needy athletes in various sports from different parts of India and has established several schools in Kashmir with the help of the Indian Army. He also unveiled a 150-foot-tall tricolor in Kashmir with the help of the Indian Army, and was recognized by the Indian Army with a commendation card for his work in improving conditions in Kashmir.
